wii fit: day one

So begins my (hopefully) daily journals about using Wii Fit. While I was waiting for the game to be released here I got really into reading this journal about using Wii Fit from an American in Japan, and I thought that when I started using it I would do the same thing. I think it will help motivate me to do well and keep going with it.
Ok, so my goals for the summer are as follows: Get my BMI down to a respectable 22 and get as flexible as I can be. Right now I’m far, far from where I should be and I want to change that. As a side goal, I’ve never been able to touch my toes, no matter what my weight has been, so I’d really like to finally be able to do that. If I can accomplish that goal then Wii Fit will really have done something for me. For this summer at least I plan to use Wii Fit for at least a half-hour and no more than an hour every day.
Today I mostly was just getting a feel for the balance board and the game in general. Two friends were here and we all got measured and did some basic workout stuff. We are all going to try and use Wii Fit this summer and I think having other people doing it as well will make a big difference. I did some Yoga, some balance games, some aerobics, and some strength training. I have a feeling that the Yoga and strength training will be where I spend the bulk of my time, but we’ll see how it goes. Even with only an eighteen minute workout I noticed some soreness in my legs and side, a good sign that I’m on the path to something good.
Tomorrow will be my first real day with the system. Summer of Fitness 2k8 begin!
